在談論節日時,at通常指整個的節日,不只指一天,如at Easter 在復活節, on可具體指節日的某一天,如on Easter Monday 在復活節后的星期一，在談論月份、季節、年份或世紀時,通常用介詞in,如in the eighteenth century 在18世紀。
